Suggested Readings Listings of books can be found through the Multicultural Book Review Homepage This site has multicultural book reviews for middle and high school students. Additionally, a book which I recommend as serious reading for high school students is "Rain of Gold" by Victor Villasenor. It is the story of how the author's parents had to leave their homes in Mexico and move to the USA where they met. Harder to locate, but very true to life as a story of teen life in post independence Ghana, is "The Gab Boys" by Cameron Duodo. For Student in grades K-3, read DIFFERENT JUST LIKE ME Related Programs and Options Another question often asked of me is, "What next?" I see volunteer projects, mediation training, self esteem building, and exposure to international, multicultural people as very supportive for character building and skills development. |
